Hi! I hope you’re having a great day. I finally thought of something to write about after finding an old journal entry I wrote. Today’s featured favorites are something I really enjoy using in my skincare routine: face masks. There are so many varieties whether you’re looking for a bargain or not. I’ll tell you about the ones I use most frequently. If you’re able to, I’d recommend getting a facial at your local salon or spa. It’s great for the skin and really clears things out. A professional can tailor a facial to your exact skincare needs. Without further ado, here are my favorites:
- Dermalogica Clear Start Breakout Clearing Cooling Masque
I initially tried this product as a sample when I was a student at FIDM. My spa/wellness teacher works at Dermalogica and she gave us free samples of their Clear Start skincare collection. You put it on your face and throat, letting the product soak in for 7-10 minutes. Then, rinse it off with warm water and pat dry with a towel. I like that it refreshes my skin and clears breakouts at the same time. I struggled with acne for awhile, so if that’s an issue for you, I’d recommend trying this. The salicylic acid clears the acne itself. 2 other main ingredients are Camphor and Licorice Extract. The Camphor provides the cooling effect and the Licorice Extract minimizes irritation. It’s $26 for a 2.5 oz bottle, so it’s a bit more expensive. This product can be purchased at Ulta, Sephora, Dermalogica.com or through other locations that sell Dermalogica products. I’d recommend this prestige mask – it’s worth the money.
2. Farmhouse Fresh Sundae Best Chocolate Softening Mask with CoQ10
This mask smells so delicious! It’s like having creamy chocolate pudding smeared on your face (in a good way). Just be sure not to eat it. It’s gluten-free too, though not fully vegan due to royal jelly extract being a key ingredient. The ingredients are natural and nourish the skin. It feels really indulgent and it’s great for anti-aging purposes. It doesn’t contain parabens or sulfates (yay!). I first bought this product at Sundara Inn and Spa in the Wisconsin Dells. I believe you can buy it through FHF’s website. I like the name “Sundae Best” because it’s fun and quirky. It’s not your run-of-the-mill face mask. It also contains Coconut Milk, Carrot Fruit Cells and Ginseng Extract (translation: your skin will feel super hydrated after using this mask). It costs $22 for a 3.25 oz jar.
3. Freeman Feeling Beautiful Facial Anti-Stress Mask with Dead Sea Minerals
This mask is a great price. It’s only $3.99 at Walgreen’s. It works well too considering it’s on the cheaper side. I get stressed easily so this was a no-brainer purchase. Dead Sea minerals are nourishing for a variety of skin types. Clean off your face with warm water, pat dry and then apply the mask. You can leave this kind on for 10-15 minutes or until it hardens. This is something I’d recommend using for college students 1-2 x a week. It depends on how sensitive your skin is. I’m pretty positive you can buy this brand at other drugstores like CVS or Rite Aid.
4. Que Bella Relaxing Lavender Aromatherapy Mask
This mask costs a couple of dollars for 0.5 oz. It’s meant to be used one time. You can buy multiple ones if you want to have them on hand. I love the peaceful smell of lavender. It’s nourishing for the skin too. It makes me feel like I’m frolicking in a field of flowers. I bought this for the first time when I was living in Downtown LA at City Target. You don’t have to leave this on for too long – just 10 minutes will suffice.
5. Mask of Magnaminty Face Mask
Lush has some of the best skincare products. A friend recommended this mask to me awhile ago. So, I tried it and couldn’t have been happier. It smells like delicious and refreshing peppermint. It had a great cooling effect on my skin. It’s great if you want to get gunk out of your pores. It works well for sensitive skin too – the ingredients are natural and the texture isn’t too harsh. This product can be used once a week to improve the skin’s appearance. Be mindful of the expiration date also. Since this product has super fresh ingredients, it’s not going to last as long as other beauty products.
